Predators Wrestling 2018-2019
Hit the mats with Predator Wrestling! LOUYAA welcomes both first time and experienced wrestlers ages 5-14. Our season runs from mid-November to early March. We wrestle in the MSWA Future Champions Series tournaments as well as other tournaments. Our advanced wrestlers will wrestle in the MJWL League as well as compete in the MSWA State Championship Series
As part of the LOUYAA sports organization, Predator wrestling focuses on the fundamentals of wrestling while instilling discipline, self-confidence, and sportsmanship in a FUN and SAFE environment. We are an organization that relies on volunteer coaches and parents contributing together to ensure a successful and fun filled season. There will be a volunteer/singlet deposit in the form of a $100 undated check to be returned if the family volunteers for the minimum amount of time required and the singlet is returned at the end of the season intact. Volunteer time may include, concession help, table help at home match, and there are various other activities requiring volunteers. All families will be required to participate in the volunteer program. A volunteer schedule will be distributed prior to the end of November.
In addition to the normal registration fee of $185 you will be required to purchase wrestling shoes (~$30) and headgear (~$30) from a sporting goods store of your choice (Dick’s carries them). We will provide a singlet that the wrestler must return as well as a Predator T-shirt that the wrestler can keep.
Your wrestling fee includes, registration, practice facilities (twice per week), Predator T-shirt, and tournament fees for 3 events. The Future Champions Series has approximately 8 tournaments throughout the year. Your child will have the option to participate in any or all of those tournaments, with the team covering the costs for 3 of them. Approximate fee for each additional tournament is $25. The competition for these tournaments covers all of our wrestlers, from beginners through experienced. In addition to the registration fee, all wrestlers will be required to purchase a Limited Folkstyle USA Wrestling Card. Cards can be purchased at www.usawmembership.com. Select team name “MDPredators”.
Practices will start in November, broken into squads based on level of experience, weight, and age. Squads practice twice a week Monday thru Friday in the evenings from 6-8 pm. For the 2018-2019 season, practices will be held at the Oakdale High School Wrestling room and Green Meadows Farm. There will be an additional practice for our advanced MJWL team.
“Once you’ve wrestled, everything else in life is easy.”
